[FACEit] sometimes drug store brand make-up is just as good as department store brands

Did you know that a lot of department stores own drug store make-up brands too?  Usually I'm the type of person to spend the extra money on something that I believe has a better value, but sometimes the cheaper version isn't such a bad idea.

Lancome makes a felt tip, liquid eyeliner that is sold for $22.  Loreal is a drug store brand owned by Lancome.  They sell the same product for less than $10.  The eyeliner applies just as well as the Lancome liner and lasts just as long.

If your loyalty remains with a department store brand like me, but you need to cut back on spending a little, you should see if they have a drug store brand.  You won't have to compromise on quality and the drug store is on your way home anyway!

[FACEit] pore cleansing strips are too expensive

The deep cleansing pore strips we've been purchasing can be made from two simple ingredients.  These strips are great, but they cost about $8 and only contain 6 strips.  Wether you don't feel like spending the money on them, or you'd like to try something new, here's a recipe I found so you can make them yourself.  All you need is unflavored gelatin and milk.  If you ask me, they work even better than the store bought strips I've tried.
The best part about the homemade strips is that you don't have to stick to one small area of your face, you can do whatever places on your face need it.  Heck, you can do your entire face if you'd like!  And like the strips, as you peel it off you can see all the junk stuck in the gelatin.  After you follow the instructions apply the solution fast because it dries quicker than you think!

[FACEit] Oprah knows a good smoky eye when she sees one

There are so many different ways to create a smoky eye effect but most of them don't work on me the way they're supposed to.  They never turn out right or the eye shape it works for just isn't mine.  I finally found a way that works for me though, Oprah's 6 Steps to a Smoky Eye.
The only changes I'd suggest so you can create a different look depending upon your outfit or eye color, is to switch up the lavender with different colors.

[FACEit] if you can give yourself a good manicure, you can give yourself a good gel manicure

Gel manicures run about $30.  They're definitely worth more than a manicure because they last up to two weeks.  When's the last time you had a manicure that lasted two weeks without chipping or cracking.  $30 every other week, plus tip, adds up pretty quickly though.
If you buy a home gel manicure kit though, it can pay off in as little as two uses.  The starter kits come with the LED portable lamp, basic colors, and applicators.  You can find them for as little as $60 at ulta.com.

[FACEit] you can never find the nail polish color you're looking for in that bag

Make yourself a nail polish rack to make your life easier.  If you have a decent size nail collection you know you can never find the color your looking for.  You just keep digging through it and shaking it around until you finally give up and dump the whole bag onto the floor.  Then, after you find the color your looking for you have to pick them up and put them all back in the bag.
Try making a homemade nail polish rack.  It's cheap, easy, and fun.  All you need is some cardboard, hot glue, and duct tape.  This tutorial explains it all...and the best part, you can change the pattern or color whenever you get sick of it!

[FACEit] mascara can actually make your lashes grow

I used to pick off my mascara when I was bored in class, or waiting for an appointment, so my lashes started thinning and breaking.  It was a bad habit that was hard to break.  I pretty much picked it off every day.  I wasn't just picking off mascara though, the ends of my lashes were breaking off and even coming out completely.  They used to be so much longer and I hated the way they were looking.   I broke the habit but my lashes still looked pathetic.

To try and make them look good I'd pile on layers of mascara. It was so hard to wash off the make-up.  I was going through mascara way too fast and my lashes weren't looking much better so I tried out Lancome's Definicils Precious Cells.  I never in a million years thought the stuff would actually work but I was pretty desperate.  After about 3 months and 3 tubes of mascara I actually noticed my eyelashes were thicker and fuller!

[FACEit] your eyebrows look just as fake as hers

Eyebrows.  They make or break our faces.  We want to cry when they look bad.  We want them to be perfect, but not so perfect to the point that they don't look real.  Have you ever looked at the girls brows walking by you and thought, does she really think they look natural?? Or are YOU that girl?  Sometimes we even look back at pictures of ourselves and think, why did I think my eyebrows looked okay like that?  Do they still look like that?
Stop the embarrassment and the second guessing.  To avoid that painted, drawn on look, and get a more natural look, try Sephora's retractable brow pencil with buit on comb.  It comes in a variety of shades so we can achieve that natural looking brow we strive for!

[FACEit] you can make many beauty products for less money than you pay for them at the store

You can make your own exfoliating scrub, which is less expensive, and better for you!  Store bought exfoliating scrubs often have chemicals in them that can be harsh on your skin and harmful to the environment anyway!  All you need to start is vanilla, olive oil, salt, and sugar.  This isn't the only thing you can make yourself to save money though.  Here's a site that tells you how to make homemade beauty products like eye liner and shave oil in just a few simple steps.

[FACEit] there is a cheaper, less harmful, and less expensive way to remove unwanted hair

Who wants to go to the salon to get waxed when it's so expensive and painful?  When they do a bad job it's even more disappointing.  You can buy the home waxing kits but for all of us that have tried them, you already know most of them do not work that well or they are too expensive, and the constant need to purchase wax and waxing strips gets pricey too.  Don't you wish you could make a better wax?

I found this recipe online to make your own sugar wax.  I tried it myself and was so impressed with the results!  It took me about 30 minutes to make and I didn't even have to go to the store to buy any ingredients.  All the recipe calls for is suger, water, and lemon juice.  The homemade wax has lasted me longer than any store bought wax, it was way less painful, and it's much better for your skin!  And you know those jeans that you haven't worn in months, that are just taking up space in your closet?  You can cut them up and use them as waxing strips!  (The link explains it all)
